“Visual Playground”
Kennard Park site specific sculpture by Marek Jacisin

Artist Statement

The location for my sculpture is the corridor between the front entrance meadow and the Park and Recreation Office building. This grassy rectangular space is lined by tall evergreen trees, and is the perfect complement for a geometric composition.

My sculpture installation aims to transform this part of the Kennard Park into a visual playground.

I have been playing with the idea of games in my recent work. I bring creative thought, geometry, and rhythm into each game.

This sculpture recreates visual elements from a board game. These are the player pieces, and the park itself is the board.  The black and white spinning circles provide a stark contrast to the asymmetrical shapes.
Come closer, see through the layers of players.
Nothing is ever what it seems.
